So, there you have it. Is it any surprise that by marrying two different Scorpio men since I was eighteen years old, my life has been a living hell of nothing but darkness, despair, and perpetual misery? ♏

Needless to say...but I will anyways because apparently, people like me need it drilled in their brains, as I've married two of these creeps. Do not marry a Scorpio. You will live to regret it, or you won't live at all. You will die inside a little each day proceeding on the ship you enter with a Scorpio.

The Scorpio Code is a real thing. It's the code these bastards live by.

Do not be fooled by their deception because they are masters at deceiving. They will deceive you while you sleep and not miss a wink of sleep themselves. They believe in one thing, their own existence...and nothing else.

Do not let their "mystery" aka habitual need to lie and use lies to gain power over others or to impress in order to get their way in any situation -- no matter who it hurts or what it destroys -- allure you.

The tricky manipulators use pseudo charm to entice you into believing they are "mate" material. They are not. They want you to first believe they make good boyfriends, fiances, husbands, and life partners. They do NOT.

It's part of their psych/ego power-tripping game. They don't know how to express their emotions in a healthy way, so they just don't.

That's their philosophy...just don't. Don't give a damn about anything but themselves. Don't care a rat's crack about other people's feelings, not even if that Scorpio claims to love you will he truly care about your feelings, or how he hurts them. He will use any power he has over your feelings and emotions to keep you emotionally attached while he remains cold, distant, and emotionally detached.

Scorpios are master gaslighters. They will always flip any situation that is bringing a negative light upon them, by using their darkness against you. They will lie straight to your face while looking you in the eyes, without even blinking or twitching their smile. And they don't smile much so I don't even know why I said that. Their sense of humor is basically non-existent. You could be on the moon and face an easier crowd than in a room with just one Scorpio alpha male. At least on the moon, you'd get a laugh outta somebody...yourself.

But with a Scorpio, their sense of humor resembles that of a log floating down a river, so getting them to laugh is a daunting task.

You end up embarrassing yourself, and the whole moment, which started as a lighthearted gesture, ends with you feeling awkward and out of place in your own existence.

Getting them to smile isn't any easier. Do not go to a comedy show with a Scorpio. They will be the only straight-faced person in the room while looking for the nearest exit. You will be left alone to laugh on your own and they will be nowhere to be found. Until they come around to boost their ego via their power over you.

Okay. So looking at the news and how the vaccines are going, I’m coming to terms with the fact that my trip to Ireland and Britain is not going to happen this August. Which means no Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I’m going to stay signed up to their mailing list, because apparently some of it will be virtual and I would consider buying tickets for online events. But I’m resigning myself to the fact that I am not going to spend the last two weeks of August 2021 in Scotland watching comedy.

Most of why I wanted to go in August was the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but it was also that I have a coop placement for my college program starting in September, so if I don’t go in August then real life will come back before I can make this trip. And I liked the idea of ending my isolated COVID life with a trip to Ireland/Britain. British comedy got me through this time, and I thought going over there would be a good ending to that. Also, spending a month on a trip where I’m around people, but in a place where I don’t have any responsibilities and I don’t know anyone so I’m not expected to socialize if I don’t want to, seemed like a very good way to transition from pandemic life to normal life. But that’s not going to happen.

So I’m coming up with a new plan. I graduated university back in 2015, and before I did, my dad told me he’d like to take me on a graduation trip to Ireland. That has some sentimental value, as he knows his ancestors lived in Ireland before they came to Canada many years ago. A few months before his mom died (when she was sick and running out of time, and she wanted to knock some stuff off her bucket list), he went with her to Ireland and they visited all the places where they knew our ancestors had lived (Cork and Clare areas, and I know my dad has some information that’s more specific than that), doing things like going into churches to look at their registries and trying to find our last name. That was in 2006, and to celebrate my university graduation in 2015, I loved the idea of doing a similar trip with my dad. Partly for the family history, partly because I’ve always wanted to see Ireland, and partly because my dad and I have shared a love of Celtic music for my whole life. After his 2006 trip to Ireland, my dad could not stop talking about how amazing it was to go into pubs every night and see everyone playing and singing Celtic tunes. Seriously, he could not fucking stop talking about it. Until I told him to shut up about it because he the jealousy his stories induced was physically painful.

The 2015 university graduation trip didn’t happen for a few reasons. I won’t get into them now, but I will say they were good reasons. But that does mean my graduation trip hasn’t happened. After university, I worked different jobs for a few years, mostly PSW work, until I got into editing and decided to go back to college to get a graduate certificate and try to get a more stable job out of that. I’ve finished all the coursework for my college program; all I have left is this coop term (I believe it’s called “work experience” in the UK, which I first learned on a weird show called Monkey Dust, and then learned again on Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience). That has to be in person so it’s been put off because of COVID; it should happen this September.

So that’s my new idea. Graduation trip, take two. Do the final bit of my college program in fall 2021, and then celebrate finishing school (hopefully for good this time) by going across the ocean. My old plan was to do two weeks of traveling through Ireland/England/Wales/Scottish Highlands, and then two weeks in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival. If I’m traveling outside of August, there’s no reason to set it up that way. I still want to go for a month, but I could spread it out more.

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last eight or so months planning out this trip, looking things up on Google Maps and Google Earth and Tripadvisor, deciding what I want to get out of it. I’ve decided that as much as I love a good look at nice bits of nature, on this trip I’m mostly interested in cities and towns. I want to see some countryside, but the fact is that we have gorgeous countryside in Canada. If I’m going to fly across an ocean, I want to focus on the different and cool experience of seeing what it’s like to live in British/Irish municipal areas.

I want to see places that feel really different from North America, places full of buildings that were built before white people even turned up in Canada. The nerdy annoying tourist in me wants to see places that look like they could have been in Harry Potter or His Dark Materials and things like that. I definitely want to ride trains into the Scottish highlands. Partly because that looks beautiful and amazing, and partly because that’s what Harry Potter did to go from his terrible Muggle life to his cool Hogwarts life and therefore I internalized the idea at age 10 that that is the greatest thing anyone can do.

At the moment, based on my extensive research, the places I want to spend at least a night or two are: Galway, Abergavenny (that’s the only place that’s on the list not because I see anything special when I look it up, it’s just the Welsh town where my mom’s dad’s dad grew up and I want to see it), Aberystwyth, London, Cambridge, York, Glasgow, Kyle of Lochalsh, Inverness, and Edinburgh.

So that’s where I’m at with those ideas, now for late 2021. I’m quite open to advice on this from anyone who knows more about that part of the world than I do.

O’brien’s Tower - Ireland

O’briens tower marks the highest point of the Cliffs of Moher. The tower was built in 1835 by local landlord and MP Sir Cornellius O’brien as an observation tower for visitors to the area. From the viewing platform, you can see the nearby Aran Islands, Galway Bay, and Hags Head.

The cliffs below have features in many movies, including Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and the Princess Bride.

Dead as a Donovan...

Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (23rd - 27th March 2020)

Another week, and another dead Donovan, as Liam became the fifth member of the family to kick the bucket in less than three years. The drama unfolded as Liam’s quest for revenge intensified and first on his hit list was Warren, who had just been released from prison, where he’s been for the last few weeks following his attack on Liam. Hearing that Warren was looking for him, Liam got one step ahead and Warren was left battered and bruised after a run in with Liam’s gang of thugs. Horrified by what had happened, Mercedes went to see Grace and ordered her to bring her Brother under control. However, the pair were soon distracted when they spotted Maxine and her ‘client’, Clayton. Maxine was forced to admit that Liam had been pimping her out and Grace and Mercedes promised her they would put a stop to it.

The two women confronted Liam over what he’d put Maxine through, but the pair failed to get through to him. The following day, Liam invited James, Mercedes, Grace and Maxine to his ‘devil’s dinner party’ at The Dog, as well as kidnapping John Paul and Sylver and tying the pair up. As everyone assembled, Liam revealed to Mercedes that James and Grace were the ones who had shot her, before handing Mercy a gun and ordering her to shot Grace. However, Mercedes turned the gun on Liam instead, but was dismayed to discover that it was fake and filled with water. As Mercedes began to panic, a crowd had gathered outside and Warren made the decision to enter the pub via an open upstairs window...

Back inside, Sylver was struggling to come to terms with Grace’s actions, and was even more shocked when Liam brought up what Grace had done to Eva. Just then, Warren burst in and attempted to save the day. However, Liam wasn’t about to go down without a fight and grabbed hold of Mercedes, just as the pair reached the stairs to the cellar. Grace soon arrived on the scene and pushed Liam away from Mercy, but grabbed hold of her Brother’s tie to stop him falling. Liam begged for help, but, determined to put an end to Liam’s reign of terror once and for all, Grace let go and allowed him to plunge to his death...

The following day, Mercedes prepared to head to the police station to dob Grace and James in for shooting her. Meanwhile, Grace was making plans to hand herself in for Liam’s murder and asked Courtney to take care of Curtis, before saying an emotional goodbye to her son. James was also preparing to face the music as he organised one last meal with his family. However, Mercedes was stopped in her tracks when Sylver pointed out that this whole mess was a direct result of Mercedes and Liam’s actions, and therefore, she’d need to accept some responsibility. Mercedes realised that he was right, and shared the news with Grace and James that she was not going to report them. Instead, she was going to take the blame for killing Liam, telling the police that’d he’d shot her all those months ago and she was acting in self defence. Later, Mercedes went to see Grace and James to tell them that the police had accepted her story and thus, this whole sorry chapter is now closed.

Elsewhere this week, Edward pleaded with Diane to convince Tony to let him move back in, but his efforts proved fruitless. At work, Edward soon found a way to get back at his son when he overheard Misbah taking some pills away from Peri - pills that cause dangerous side effects that she’d nearly given to the wrong patient. Edward charged in and offered to put the pills back where they belonged. However, instead, he took the pills over to The Hutchinson’s, and swapped them for Tony’s medication.

In other news this week, Brody was left increasingly uncomfortable by his feelings towards Liberty, whilst Darren and Kyle bonded over video games. Finally, Walter tried to make it up to Mitchell.

P.S. I Love Ireland

Ever since the 2007 release of the romance film P.S. I Love You, Ireland was on my bucket list. My 15-year-old self dreamed of traveling to the Emerald Isle and meeting a tall, dark and handsome man with an accent that would turn your knees to goo. Unfortunately, as I got older, I realized that real life is not a rom-com, and the chances of me meeting my future husband on a stroll through Wicklow National Park were as likely as me running into Gerard Butler on the streets of my hometown. This realization, however, did not squash my dreams of setting my eyes upon the gorgeous, lush countryside of the most beautiful country on earth (in my own opinion).

Fast forward to 10 years later…

Although I always had my heart set on Ireland, I never put a time frame on when I wanted to get there. Only having left the country once before to the concrete jungle that is Las Vegas, I had absolutely no travel experience. I did have the pleasure of living vicariously through my good friend Danyka, who has visited more countries by the time she was 25 than most people will see in their lifetime. I always looked forward to her returning from her journeys so I could hear her stories and browse through the incredible photos she took.

Danyka always encouraged me to get out and see the world, but I consistently had an excuse. Whether it was money or taking time off work, there was always a reason not to. The reality of it, is that you WILL make more money and you CAN find the time, but you must discipline yourself to stay on track. With the motivation of a great friend and some serious budgeting, I started my Ireland fund and it was the best thing I ever did.

Now, before you start thinking why a newbie traveler would bother with a blog on the only real trip she’s ever been on, I can tell you this… Of the countless blogs, articles and Pins that I visited before my trip; I wish there had been more amateur travellers that shared their experiences. Kind of like somebody who is watching P.S. I Love You for their first time versus somebody who has seen it 100 times (not mentioning any names). The fresh perspective sheds a whole new light on the experience.

when i was younger, andrew mcmahon -- the frontman for jack’s mannequin. he had leukemia and beat it and that gave me hope because my grandmother had it too at the time.

yes, i fall in love on the daily lol.

can’t say i have one. i used to as a kid but now i think just time with someone i really care about is a good start.

i’d love a trip. i’m not sure where yet because my birthday is smack in the middle of summer but i’ll figure it out lol.

uh, i’m not sure. back in high school, one guy told me he thought i was a bitch at first lol because i’m introverted and i rock the resting bitch face well. but then he said he got to know me and found out i was really down to earth and one of the “coolest chicks i know” which was nice. i think people just tend to find me unapproachable because i guess i don’t look friendly enough. i don’t bite, promise.

no one’s every guessed an age too far off from whatever my current age is/was.

charging across the room.

“what the frack?” which is not a word i know.

honestly i’ve had people tell me i’d be well suited in something art related. a classmate told me she could really see me running a nice little cafe.

I like to think so. I try to dish out a good balance of logic and humor but I know I don’t always take my own advice, don’t @ me.

Lol you mean besides the constant awareness of how cataclysmic the human experience is? Jk I probably have anxiety but nothing clinically diagnosed.

7) Have you ever experienced sleep paralysis?

Luckily, my body is only problematic when I’m awake. It sounds terrifying so I hope I never do!

8) What musician has inspired you the most?

Halsey. Her albums have depicted our similar emotional development arcs and I pretty much worship the ground she walks on. Mad respect for kpop groups like BTS and GOT7 though, seeing as they have to go through so much extra shit in the Korean entertainment industry to achieve their dreams and that’s also mega inspiring.

9) Have you ever fallen in love?

“My first love was some insignificant boy when it should have been myself.”

10) What’s your dream date?

This one’s tough. Either a whole day at SixFlags or a beach trip somewhere exotic, just the two of us.

My hair is pretty damn long. I was visiting family in LA once and a girl asked if it was real and that’s the most LA thing that’s probably ever happened to me

Procrastination. Even I get annoyed with myself!

Wherever I feel the most at home. I’ll probably end up staying in the US but I definitely want to try living in Hong Kong or South Korea for a while
